Dalton Botts was one of the first players head coach Al Golden and his staff targeted after taking the job in December of 2010.
Botts, a one-time LSU commitment, was playing Junior College football in California when the Canes came calling. He was offered a scholarship, committed, and inked with the Hurricanes soon after.
It didn't take him long to make a big impact for the Canes. In his first season on campus, the rising junior punted 48 times for an average of 42.7 per punt. His longest boot of the year was 62 yards.
Botts, a high school quarterback, is the only player from the ACC Conference on the preseason watch list.
The Ray Guy Award is given to the top punter in college football every year.
