Hoops: UM 87, Stetson 79

The University of Miami Men's Basketball team opened its season with a win over Stetson today.

The Hurricanes opened its 2012/2013 season today by defeating their in-state opponent by the score of 87-79.

Playing without Durand Scott, still serving a suspension, the Canes were tied at halftime with the Hatters 34 all.

A strong second half, led by Reggie Johnson, helped Miami pull away. Johnson finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds.

Adam Pegg also chipped in 22 points for the Canes, while Kenny Kadji led the team with 12 rebounds.

The starters for the Hurricanes in this game were Shane Larkin, Rion Brown, Rrey McKinney, Kadji, and Johnson.

The Canes (1-0) will take on Florida Gulf Coast in their next game.
