Hoops: FGCU 61, Miami 53

Posted Nov 13, 2012

The Hurricanes dropped their second game of the season today when Florida Gulf Coast upset the Canes.

The win for FGCU was probably the biggest in its school history. It happened in front of a sellout crowd too.

The Hurricanes were playing without standout guard Durand Scott again, who is still serving an NCAA suspension. That really limits the team's overall quickness and athleticism and that was evident in this game today.

The Hurricanes fell behind 32-25 at halftime, and they simply weren't able to cut into the lead enough in the second half. Sherwood Brown and Eric McNight each scored 14 for FGCU in the victory.

Shane Larkin led the scoring for the Hurricanes with 14 points as well, while Reggie Johnson grabbed 10 boards for the Canes.

For the second-straight game, starters for Miami were Larkin, Rion Brown, Trey McKinney Jones, Kenny Kadji and Johnson.

The Hurricanes (1-1) will Jacksonville University on Friday.
