Edwards Decommits from Syracuse

Edwards Decommits from Syracuse

Augustus Edwards had maintained he was still a Syracuse commit despite looking elsewhere since the Orange coaching staff changed. That status changed on Thursday.

Syracuse has been looking to land New York's top prospect for the last several years. They had struck out in the past, but were hoping 2013 would be different. However, history will repeat itself as Augustus Edwards will look to play football out of state.

"I decommitted," Edwards told CuseNation.com. "It's just FSU and Miami."

Edwards told new head coach Scott Shafer the news once he decided to make the decommitment official.

"He understood," the 3-star running back said of Shafer after informing him of the news.

The news gives Syracuse 17 commitments in the 2013 class, and frees up another scholarship as the new staff continues to look to add talent.
