It was just a few days ago that San Diego State landed possibly their best recruit of the class in Seffner (Fla.) Armwood tight end Darryl Richardson.

"I'm very excited," Richardson said of signing with Aztecs. "Going to take it slow and enjoy the moment."

South Florida has been trying to flip Richardson off San Diego State since committing on Sunday but he simply told them, "I'm already committed to SDSU."

The three-star pass catcher will sign with SDSU at 8:00 a.m. PST while wearing an Aztec hat. He was hoping to find an SDSU tie but was unable to.

Fox Sports/Scout.com National Recruiting Analysts Brandon Huffman and Greg Biggins both referred to Richardson as the "steal" of the class for SDSU in the AztecReport.com awards, which will be posted at 1:45 p.m. PST on Wednesday.

"It is what it is," Richardson said of the statement. "I'm just ready to get going and prove that."

What will the impact tight end bring to the Aztecs right away?

"I'm looking to make an impact," Richardson answered. "I'm faster than the last tight end they had (Gavin Escobar) and I got the hands so I should be able to make an impact and work for my starting spot."
