Canes will send two to NFL Combine

The University of Miami will send two players to the NFL Combine this year after the invitation list was announced today.

Mike James and Brandon McGee have been invited to the NFL Combine, which will begin on February 20.

James, a former four-star recruit from Ridge Community High in Polk County, had a solid career at Miami. He ran for 46 yards and a touchdown while playing a very limited role as a freshman in 2009. He ran for 398 yards and four touchdowns as a sophomore in 2010. He ran for 275 yards and seven touchdowns while battling injuries in 2011, the year he played behind Lamar Miller. His best season came as a senior in 2012 when he ran for 642 yards and six scores. He also added 344 yards and three scores as a pass-catcher in Jedd Fisch's offense. James started every game in 2012 and was named the team's MVP after the season.

McGee, a former four-star recruit from Plantation High in South Florida, was a two-year starter for the Hurricanes at cornerback. After playing in 20 games, and starting one, over his first two seasons here, McGee became a starter before the 2011 season. He finished his junior season with 38 tackles, three pass break-ups, and one interception. He turned in his best season as a senior in 2012 when he finished with 54 tackles, seven pass break-ups, and two interceptions.

McGee is projected to be a mid-round pick in April's draft, while James is likely going to be a late-round selection.
