Dyron Dye, a senior defensive end from Seminole High in Sanford, was injured in the team's first spring scrimmage two Saturdays ago.
Head coach Al Golden provided an update on his status on Tuesday.
"He’s out," Golden said. "We have to release that. He’s out with an achilles injury for the rest of spring. We hope to have him back for the the season."
Dye, 6-foot-5 and 275 pounds, came to Miami as a defensive end before switching over to tight end during the first couple years of the Al Golden era.
Dye would add much needed depth to the defensive end position this fall.
