Hamilton is hurt

The Hurricanes returned to the practice field on Tuesday, and one of the defensive linemen went down with an injury.

Jelani Hamilton went down with an injury during Tuesday's practice.

"He got hurt in a warm up drill," head coach Al Golden said. "He went to pick up a fumble. It was a non contact injury."

Hamilton's status is unclear as of right now, and will be closely monitored.

"We’re concerned, and we’re trying to reach his family and get him checked."

When asked if it looks like a knee injury, Golden simply said, "It’s definitely in the leg."

Hamilton, 6-foot-4 and 275 pounds, was a four-star recruit from St. Thomas Aquinas High. He saw limited action off the bench as a freshman last season and is expected to be part of the rotation at defensive end this season.
