The Tampa Bay Bucs selected running back Mike James in the 6th round of the NFL Draft earlier today.

Mike James was taken by the Tampa Bay Bucs with the 21st pick in the 6th round (189 overall).

James became the first Hurricane selected by the Bucs since they drafted Nate Webster back in 2000.

James, a native of Haines City near Tampa, had a solid career at the University of Miami. He started all 12 games as a senior in 2012, and finished the season with 642 yards and six touchdowns. He finished his career with 1,386 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also grabbed 67 receptions for 585 yards and five scores.

James, who was named the Team's MVP following the 2012 season, came to Miami as a four-star running back recruit out of Davenport High.

James, like teammate Brandon McGee who was drafted in the 5th round, graduated from UM back in December.
