Commitment Analysis: QB Brad Kaaya

QB Brad Kaaya

Scout.com takes a look at what Miami is getting with their new quarterback commit, West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade standout Brad Kaaya...

Profile: Brad Kaaya

Position: Quarterback
Location: West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 215 pounds

Recruiting: Kaaya chose Miami over an offer from San Diego State. He took an unofficial visit to check out the Canes in late March and fell in love with the place. It was going to be tough for anyone to beat out Miami from that point on. .

What to Like: Kaaya is a high upside kid with a lot of tools. He has great size and the ideal frame you're looking for in a pro-style quarterback. He has a big arm, shows good accuracy and can make every throw you're looking for. He has been very impressive this spring on the 7 on 7 circuit showing off a quick release, sound decision making and poise in the pocket.

What may be of concern: Kaaya didn't become the full time starter until about week 5 of the season last year. He needs game experience and reps but that's about the only concern you can find in him. He truly has as much upside as just about any quarterback in the West region this year.

Overall Analysis: This was a very nice pickup for the Canes and came at a good time. Kaaya has the talent to play for just about any program in the west but several programs were waiting on Kyle Allen and Keller Chryst, the top two ranked quarterbacks in the region, before offering anyone else. Kaaya was very high on the board for many of the programs waiting on Allen/Chryst and the feeling was by the summer, there's a good chance his offer list would have blown up. Kaaya is very smart on and off the field and has the talent and the cerebral capacity to play early for the Canes if needed.
