Ivery no longer on roster

Sophomore defensive tackle Dequan Ivery is no longer listed on Miami's roster as a member of the football team.

Dequan Ivery signed with Miami in its 2012 recruiting class. At 6-foot-1 and 305 pounds, Ivery came to Miami from Lake City's Columbia High School. After playing some as a true freshman last season, Ivery is now no longer listed on Miami's football roster. He will apparently play college football elsewhere in 2013.

Ivery, a one-time Louisville commitment in high school before getting offered by the Canes in January of his senior year, played in five games as a backup in 2012. His first game action came at Notre Dame. The true freshman finished the year with three tackles

Ivery came out of spring unable to crack the two deep at defensive tackle. He was expected to compete for the fifth defensive tackle spot during preseason camp.

The Hurricanes now have just six defensive tackles on the current roster. They're hoping a couple Junior College transfers -- including Ufomba Kamalu and Julio Derosier -- can enroll in time for the fall semester.
