Rebs Land DL Brown

DL Fadol Brown

Fadol Brown, a 6-4, 270-pound outside-inside defensive lineman, made it official today that he will transfer to Ole Miss after leaving FIU after one season. Ole Miss, Miami, Texas, Tennessee and Kentucky were his final choices.

When Fadol Brown decided to leave FIU, he was looking for a home, not just another school.

The 6-4, 270-pound transfer from FIU, who left that program when his coach was fired, had many suitors trying to gain his services - Texas, Miami, Tennessee, Kentucky were the hottest - but in the end Fadol found his home at Ole Miss.

"Ole Miss had everything I was looking for. I just love it down there," said Brown. "First of all, it's a family atmosphere. The way the coaches, players and fans treated me was exactly what I was hoping for in a new school. Family is important to me.

"I have a great bond with Coach (Hugh) Freeze - he's a special man, a guy I can give everything I have to."

And from the bricks and mortar angle, Fadol was also impressed.

"Man, the facilities there are top notch," he continued. "They are renovating the indoor practice facility and it was already nice. That proves to me that Ole Miss is serious about being a big-time football program."

Brown is listed as a defensive end, but he says he can play inside or outside.

"My strength is against the run, but I feel as soon as Coach (Chris) Kiffin teaches me more pass rush moves, with my speed, I can be a top caliber pass rusher as well," he stated.

Brown said he can "hold his own" in the strength department and that he ran a 4.78 and 4.81 in the 40 at his latest timing.

"I want to get more flexible and learn more pass rush moves and techniques, but I think after my redshirt year, I will be ready to go," he commented.

Due to transfer rules, Fadol will have to sit out the 2013 season, but after that, he will have three years to play three. He will report to Ole Miss for fall practice.

He is not only fired up to be a Rebel, he's very, very optimistic about his chances to be a difference-maker on the Rebel squad.

"I'll just leave you with this," he stated. "Me and (Robert) Nkemdiche are going to tear it up!"

Welcome aboard, Fadol Brown!
