The New York Giants have been ravaged by injuries during training camp. Safety Antrel Rolle was the latest name added to the injury report, but find out why the leader of Big Blue's secondary isn't even considering missing the regular season opener in Dallas.

After being carted off during Monday’s practice session with an apparent right ankle injury, New York Giants safety Antrel Rolle addressed reporters in a walking boot on Tuesday. The nine-year veteran explained exactly how the injury occurred.

“One-on-one drills, I got tangled up with the tight end as I went for the pass and it’s an unfortunate sprain,” Rolle said.

No timetable has been set for Rolle’s return to the practice field, but the safety appears thankful the injury isn’t more severe.

“I just know it’s a sprain,” noted Rolle. “It’s a pretty good sprain. I always say If I can’t get up and I can’t walk off on my own, it’s pretty bad. “For right now, just from yesterday to today it feels ten times better.”

When asked whether he had thought about the possibility of missing the regular season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, Rolle admitted he isn’t even considering that as an option.

“No, I’m going to do whatever it takes to make sure, that’s not even a possibility,” declared Rolle. “Treatment two times a day, three times a day, four times a day, you know whatever it takes I’m going to do it.”

The Giants are dealing with a laundry list of setbacks most notably defensive ends Jason Pierre-Paul and Justin Tuck battling with back issues along with wide receiver Hakeem Nicks nursing a strained groin.

Rolle is working with the Giants' training staff to rehab his ankle back to full strength, while also training the rest of his body to be in peak condition for when he’s healthy enough to step on the field again.

"I started that last night on my own,” mentioned Rolle. "Doing push-ups, leg raises things like that. After last year I’m never out of a fight. I might not be able to run, but I can definitely do other things. I definitely take that into consideration and try to do all things that are possible.”
