Augustus Edwards signed with the University of Miami as a three-star running back prospect from the state of New York back in February.
At 6-foot-1 and 230 pounds, Edwards is one of two big backs on Miami's roster (along with redshirt freshman Danny Dillard). He was expected to play some type of role in first year coordinator James Coley's offense this fall.
After a strong start to fall camp, Edwards has been missing from practice the last few days. We now have an explanation why -- NCAA Clearinghouse issues.
"Gus has to take care of some clearinghouse issues," head coach Al Golden said today. "There is no admission issue. As soon as he’s cleared to go, he’s good to go."
While these types of issues sometimes linger a lot longer than fans would hope for, Golden does not seem overly concerned about the freshman running back, who would provide much needed depth at the position.
"It should not be anything," Golden said.
