New England continues to make roster moves cutting tight end D.J. Wiliiams and defensive lineman…
SCOUTING REPORT: Marcus Forston
Forston, 24, was originally signed by the Patriots as a rookie free agent on May 10, 2012 out of Miami.
The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Forston was a beast at Miami and spent last season bouncing from the 53-man roster and the practice squad in New England. Forston is not expected to be much of a run stopper, but may have been added to the 53-man roster to give New England an additional pass rusher up the middle. During the preseason, Forston has shown that interior pressure on the quarterback has been his strength.
Last season, after spending most of his time on the practice squad, Forston eventually re-joined the 53-man roster prior to the AFC Championship Game but was inactive for the game. Forston made his NFL debut as a defensive reserve at Baltimore on Sept. 23, 2012. He went to training camp with the Patriots this past summer but was released on Aug. 31 and signed to the practice squad on Sept. 1.
Neblett, 25, was a three-year veteran from Carolina. He was signed to do one thing, stop the run. He could be over powered by offensive linemen if he doesn't stay low. At his height, he is still built like brickhouse and will have the ability clog up the running lanes, but his inability to rush the passer may have made him expendable.
There is still a chance the Patriots sign Neblett to the practice squad if he clears waivers.
