Perhaps we need that when it comes to recruiting. With this class it would be off the charts.
No state has been more volatile than the state of Florida. Simply, it's out of hand. Here we are a few mere hours away from national signing day and there are over two dozen undecided recruits in the Sunshine State. Most of this group at one time or another had already made their commitment. Some on this list, remain committed to a school but could flip to another tomorrow.
Here are just some of the big story lines going into tomorrow from the state of Florida.
Treon Harris (QB) Miami Booker T. Washington
Quarterback Treon Harris (Miami Booker T. Washington) has been a long time commitment to Florida State but has made official visits to Florida and Auburn in mid-January and he was at Miami this past weekend. He's a better fit for the Gator and Tiger offense. Harris also has strong ties to the Hurricanes program. He will make his announcement at 9 a.m.
D'Ernest Johnson (RB) Immokalee
Johnson was expected to pick USF but then they got a commitment from Sarasota Booker running back Marlon Mack last week. Will he still ink with the Bulls? It appears that way. He will make his announcement at 8 a.m.
Ermon Lane (WR) Homestead
This five-star wide receiver was originally committed to the University of Florida until about a month ago. His only official visit taken was last weekend and that was to FSU. Look for Lane to sign with the Seminoles tomorrow. His announcement is at 10 a.m.
Harrison committed to the Hokies a long time ago but FSU has really turned up the heat. Does he flip to the national champions?
C.J. Worton (WR) Homestead South Dade
Worton was a long time commitment to Florida State before recently backing off of his pledge. He has made official visits this month to West Virginia and Florida. He likely decides between the Mountaineers and Gators tomorrow. Worton will make his decision at 9 a.m.
Isaiah McKenzie (WR) Plantation American Heritage
McKenzie had himself quite the season and his stock really took off over the last six weeks or so. He committed to Notre Dame during the fall but recently backed off that decision. He has made official visits to Florida, Ole Miss and Virginia Tech. Georgia offered him late last week. He hasn't visited the Dawgs yet but remember his good friend and teammate Sony Michel is headed to Athens.
Derrick Kelly (OT) Havana East Gadsden
There's a big battle brewing for this former Kentucky commitment. Florida, FSU, and LSU have all made a huge late push. He likely stays in-state. Will it be the Gators or Seminoles?
Travonte Valentine (DT) Hialeah Chapagnat Catholic
Valentine is the state's top defensive tackle. He has already backed off two pledges. His first was to the Gators and his next was to Miami. He was scheduled to make an official visit to the Hurricanes this past weekend but never came. In the end, it could very well be LSU. Valentine will sign tomorrow at 10:30.
Demetrius Jackson (DE) Miami Booker T. Washington
Has Jackson just been taking visits to take visits or is he seriously considering Arkansas and Texas? This Miami commitment will let everyone know tomorrow at 8 a.m.
Rocel McWilliams (Pensacola West Florida)
Missouri commitment visited Florida in mid-January. Was it enough to turn him from the Tigers? This defensive end committed to Missouri back in April and made his official there last weekend.
Sharieff Raheed (LB) Ft. Pierce Central
Hands down Raheed has been one of the mystery recruits of this class from Florida. He has made official visits to Michigan State, Missouri and Louisville. Who will he choose?
Jeffrey Williams (LB) Tallahassee Lincoln
Williams is a former Louisville commitment. He will likely sign with a junior college, hoping to get his academics in order and sign with someone at a later date.
T.J. Harrell (S) Tampa Catholic
Harrell visited Georgia in January but looks like he's headed to Michigan State. He will announce at the Team USA vs the World All-Star Game tomorrow.
D'Cota Dixon (S) New Smyrna Beach
Dixon is set to pick between West Virginia, Michigan State and Wisconsin.
J.C. Jackson (CB) Immokalee
Jackson first committed to FSU. Now it's Florida and that decision was made months ago. Since, he has been to Miami seven times. Last weekend he was scheduled to make an official visit to Florida State before cancelling at the last second. Instead he made an unofficial visit to Florida. He came home to an in-home visit with Al Golden on Sunday. Never a dull moment in this state. He is scheduled to make his announcement at 8 a.m.
Chris Lammons (CB) Plantation
This former Gator commitment will pick from two – South Carolina and Wisconsin. His announcement is at 1:00 p.m.
