Braun Will Be Ready For Opener

University of Miami sophomore shortstop Ryan Braun, the 2003 National Freshman Player of the Year after leading the Hurricanes in six offensive categories last season, is recovering from a right elbow injury that prevented him from throwing or hitting the first week and a half of practice.

UM coach Jim Morris said that Braun should be ready for the team's season-opener against Florida Feb. 13. Braun was scheduled to start 'swinging the bat' on Thursday, according to Morris. "Ryan's elbow has been bothering him since the fall. We got him checked up with Dr. Uribe and put him on a monitored throwing program, but it's nothing serious," said Morris.
