9/17 Stock Report
Here are five guys who could have a spectacular game against Louisiana Tech FS Brandon Meriweather If the Bulldogs cant establish the running game early and get forced into a number of third-and-long situations it could bold well for the Hurricane defense. Meriweather has shown the ability to make interceptions and this could be a game in which he gets his hands on the football. He is quick to the ball and anticipates the play very well. CB Antrel Rolle He was spectacular in the victory over Florida State last week. Last year against Louisiana Tech in the season opener he scored two touchdowns on returns (punt and interception). Rolle is the senior leader on the defense and the team really rallies off of his attitude, energy, and heart. One thing that separates Rolle from other top cornerbacks is his ability to tackle. Look for number six to have another solid game in game number two. WR Darnell Jenkins He is due. It has only been one game in the 2004 season, but that is what his teammates feel. Jenkins was one of the top performers in the off-season in the weight room and on the practice field. He only recorded two catches last game, but look for bigger numbers against Louisiana Tech. He is a player waiting to break out and this might just be the game he does so. RB Tyrone Moss Moss only carried the ball six times for five yards against Florida State. In three career games against the Seminoles he has 23 carries and 38 yards (1.7 average). Look for him to get more carries this week and have a superb game. He is a power back inside the tackles, but has the ability to break one loose with his vision and deceptive speed. DE Bryan Pata Pata is back in the lineup after serving a one-game suspension for a violation of team rules last week. He is another young player on the Hurricane defense hungry to have a great season. When he steps on the field he has the ability to make a play instantly. He has great size for an end and his overall game is right where it needs to be. Assuming he can shake off any injuries—particularly his ankle—he should have a great season this year.
