OL Plans January Visit

Matt Pipho

Matt Pipho has been a prime recruiting target for the University of Miami ever since the Canes offered him a scholarship earlier in the year. What started out to be a situation where a lot of major schools weren't recruiting him has now turned into an all out battle.

"I have added two more visits in January -- Nebraska and Oklahoma," Pipho said. "I'll be pretty busy next month with four of my official visits."

At 6-6 and 260, the former tight end recently took his first official visit to Oregon.

"It was a really nice visit," he said. "I got to see a lot and I really enjoyed myself out there. They have a good program and I like the situation I'd be walking into. But I really dont have a whole lot to compare it to right now. I definitely plan on taking all my visits."

Pipho is set to see Stanford (1/7), Miami (1/14), Oklahoma (1/21), and Nebraska (1/26) next month.

"I've had a lot of the coaches come by earlier this month," he said. "It has quited down some because of the contact period. It's giving me a chance to reflect on some things and focus on my basketball season."

The talented lineman says the Canes are still near the top of his list at this point.

"Coach Kehoe is the main reason," he said. "I really like him a lot and could see myself playing for him. I'm really looking forward to going down there and checking out what Miami's all about."

Pipho, a full academic qualifier, says he doesn't have a favorite at this point in the process.
