With the 25th overall pick in the first round the Carolina Panthers selected Miami linebacker Jon Beason.

Jon Beason (6-0/236) led the team in tackles last year with 76.

The last Hurricane to be drafted by the Panthers was Dan Morgan (2001, 1st round)

In 38 games at Miami he collected 171 tackles (104 solo) with 2.5 sacks and 18 tackles fr a loss. He also added one interception.
