Monday, the University of Miami relieved defensive coordinator Tim Walton of his duties.

In a press release Tuesday, the University of Miami have officially relieved defensive coordinator Tim Walton from his duties.

TIM WALTON RELIEVED OF HIS DUTIES FROM HURRICANES COACHING STAFF

CORAL GABLES, Fla - University of Miami defensive coordinator Tim Walton has been relieved of his duties.

"This was a very difficult decision to make both personally and professionally," said UM head coach Randy Shannon. "It is my responsibility as a head coach to evaluate all aspects of the football organization at the end of the season."

Walton, 36, was the Hurricanes defensive coordinator in 2007 after having served as the secondary coach from 2004-06. Walton came to Miami in 2004 after serving as defensive backs coach at Louisiana State. He has also coached at Syracuse, Memphis, and Bowling Green. Walton was a two year starter and four-year letterman at Ohio State.
