Canes ready for big recruiting weekend

There's one final recruiting weekend left before National Signing Day and CanesTime.com has you covered. Lets break down the list of players scheduled to arrive on campus today for the start of their official visits.

RB Jamie Harper

Other Schoos: Clemson, Illinois, and Florida State.

Primary Recruiter: Clint Hurtt

Interest Level: Medium

The Skinny: The five-star running back prospect has one visit left and that's Miami this weekend. He's the only running back the Canes actively recruited down the stretch this recruiting season and this weekend's visit will be huge. Heading into the weekend, it's believed that Clemson has the edge. He is scheduled to announce his final decision on Wednesday at approximately 12:30.

WR Laron Byrd

Other Schoos: Auburn, Nebraska, Mississippi State, and Tulane

Primary Recruiter: Joe Pannunzio

Interest Level: High

The Skinny: The Hurricanes are in need of a big receiver on the roster and that's why Byrd is being recruited. He has been since the summer, when he came down for camp. We're hearing good things about the possibility of Byrd inking with the Canes next week. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out but the Canes appear to be in excellent shape here.

WR Tommy Streeter

Other Schoos: South Florida, South Carolina, and Oregon

Primary Recruiter: Aubrey Hill

Interest Level: Medium

The Skinny: Streeter has been tough to figure out from day one. The next receiver commitment will likely be either him or Byrd so it'll be interesting to see how this weekend plays out.

OL Benjamin Jones

Other Schoos: Clemson

Primary Recruiter: Jeff Stoutland

Interest Level: High

The Skinny: Jones recently narrowed his choices down to Miami and Clemson. It's believed the Hurricanes stand an excellent chance heading into the final weekend.

OL Brandon Washington

Other Schoos: None

Primary Recruiter: Jeff Stoutland

Interest Level: Committed to Miami

The Skinny: Washington has been a public commitment since the spring and never took any other visits. He told CanesTime.com earlier this week that he'll visit if he gets his test scores back in time. If not, he won't visit but still plans on signing with Miami on Wednesday.

DL Jonathan Jackson

Other Schoos: FIU

Primary Recruiter: Bill Young

Interest Level: High

The Skinny: The Canes offered him a couple weeks ago and stand an excellent chance of landing him. Jackson emerged as a major prospect, thanks to an outstanding senior season -- especially the second half of it.

DL Nicholas Perry

Other Schoos: Michigan, Michigan State, and USC

Primary Recruiter: Jeff Stoutland

Interest Level: Low

The Skinny: Despite Randy Shannon speaking at his team's banquet earlier this week, Perry will be a very tough pull away from Michigan. A great visit will really help but it appears to be an uphill battle at this point.

LB Ramon Buchanan

Other Schoos: Florida

Primary Recruiter: Micheal Barrow

Interest Level: Medium

The Skinny: The most interesting visitor of the weekend, Buchanan was a commitment to Miami from the summer all the way until a couple weeks ago when he switched his commitment to Florida. The next 48 hours will be very important for the Hurricanes if they are to turn him.

LB Antonio Harper

Other Schoos: None

Primary Recruiter: Tommie Robinson

Interest Level: Committed to Miami

The Skinny: Harper made an early season commitment to the Canes and never visited anyone else. He is still rehabbing a torn ACL and plans to ink with the Canes on Wednesday.

S C.J. Odom

Other Schoos: None

Primary Recruiter: Tommie Robinson

Interest Level: Committed to Miami

The Skinny: Odom has been a commitment since mid-season and this will be his only official visit. He is fully expected to ink with the Canes on Wednesday.
