C.J. Odom had his official visit to Miami this weekend and came away impressed with the Hurricanes new football home and academic opportunities. He gave his thoughts on his future school and teammates.

“The visit was great,” said Odom. “It was nice to get a chance to see the academic part of the school. It is also a really nice campus.”

The 5-foot-11 213 pound safety went on the visit with his mother and older brother. He was hosted by Miami running back Javarris James.

“My host was Javarris James,” said Odom. “I knew him from his high school days. He is a real cool guy. I had a good time hanging out with him and the rest of the team.”

Odom was impressed with Miami aside from the football program and is excited about what the school has to offer.

“My mom and brother really looked at the academic side of Miami ,” said Odom. “They came away very impressed. I also got a chance to meet with Donna Shalala. She really talked about taking advantage of other things at UM and not just the football team.”

Odom says at one point in the visit everyone was given a chance to have a one on one talk with their future position coaches. He talked about is meeting with Wesley McGriff.

“He was really stressing the competition at UM,” said Odom. “He said they are going to play the best players regardless of what class they are. He told me to just come in and work hard.”

The Fort Myers High School standout said the highlight of his visit was when all the recruits got a chance to see Dolphin Stadium.

“The stadium was awesome,” said Odom. “It has flat screen TVs all over the place and the replay boards are huge.”

Odom still has to work to do in the class room to get into Miami . The safety reports a 2.5 GPA and is waiting for a qualifying SAT score.

“I just want to get to Miami as soon as possible,” said Odom. “I hope that is in the summer. I am going to work hard to get to Miami as quick as I can.”

The 3-star DB remains a Miami commitment and said he likes everything Miami has to offer.

“I like everything about Miami ,” said Odom. “I like their tradition. The current players and coaches are all real cool. I love the stadium and the academic side of the school.”
