The University of Miami landed a huge commitment from five-star linebacker Arthur Brown a few months ago. Today the 'Canes kept in the family by landing his brother, five-star runningback Bryce Brown. Read on for the details of his commitment!

Bryce Brown will be one of the nation's top rated recruits for the class of 2009 and on Thursday, he ended the recruiting process very early by making a commitment to the Hurricanes.

"I told Coach Shannon and Coach Barrow that I'm ready to commit to Miami," Brown said. "They were really excited and glad to have me."

There were several reasons why Brown decided to be a Hurricane. he talked about some of them.

"The biggest thing was spiritually, in my heart God was saying this was the place for me to be, and I went with my heart. Coach Barrow and I definitely have a very good relationship, and he played a big part in my decision. I feel that Miami is a place where I can grow spiritually as well as academically because of some of the people like Coach Barrow who they have there."

Brown also talked about his future head coach, Randy Shannon.

"He's really down to earth, and he's really straight up with you," Brown said. "He's a great coach, a great guy, and will get Miami winning again like they used to, and that's something that I want to be a part of."

With his brother making a commitment just weeks before he enrolled in school, the younger Brown talked about why he made his decision so early in the process.

"I went through the process last year with my brother, and now I know what to expect. That's why i was able to make the commitment so early. I already feel like I've been through it."

Brown understands the runningback tradition at the University of Miami and wants to add his name to the list of great backs who have played there.

"Miami produces great runningbacks," Brown said. "They didn't take a runningback in the 2008 class and I plan to work hard enough to become a starter when I get there."

Brown, 6 foot and 210 lbs, believes he'll be a part of the nation's best recruiting class in 2009.

"One thing that I want to be a part of is a great recruiting class," he said. "With my commitment this early, I know I'll probably draw a lot of interest from top recruits. I'm already building relationships with a lot of other top prospects. I've already talked to Craig Loston, Xavier Nixon, David Oku, and I'm trying to get ahold of players like Lamar Miller, Davon Kennard, and other guys. Great players want to play with other great players and i want all these other players to realize that Miami is a really special place. Big things are going to happen this year and we are going to have the number one recruiting class in the nation without a doubt."

Brown, who plans on taking an unofficial visit to Miami for the spring game, credits mentor/trainer Brian Butler for a lot of his success.

"I would not be in this position if not for him. He takes time away from his job and family to help us become better players and to get noticed. He teaches us to be real men and I'm very thankful of him."

Brown, who is already qualified, and ran for 1865 yards and 26 touchdowns last season, is Miami's second commitment for the class of 2009, joining Texas quarterback A.J. Highsmith.
