Two Canes go on first day

Day one of the NFL Draft was today and two Hurricanes were selected -- one in the first round and one in the second.

With the last pick in the first round, the Super Bowl champion New York Giants selected safety Kenny Phillips, stretching the University of Miami's record for consecutive years with at least one player selected in the first round. Phillips was the first safety drafted.

Defensive end Calais Campbell was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round with the 50th overall pick. He was the seventh defensive end selected.

Only the first two rounds were completed on Saturday. Three through seven will take place on Sunday and several former Hurricanes are hoping to get drafted.
