The Hurricanes have been one of the least productive offenses in college football the last two seasons and it led to the firing of second-year offensive coordinator Patrick Nix.

According to Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press, Patrick Nix has been fired from the University of Miami.

"It's time to part ways, but I really enjoyed my time here," Nix told The Associated Press. "I loved these players to death. I loved these coaches to death. But in the long run, it's probably better that we make this change."

Nix came to Miami after serving as the offensive coordinator at Georgia Tech under former coach Chan Gailey.

Nix coordinated an offense at Miami that has struggled since his arrival. Under four different starting quarterbacks over the past two seasons, the Canes ranked 89th in total offense this season and 110th last season.

Nix's replacement has not yet been named. Stay tuned to CanesTime.com for more analysis of this news.
