Telemaque to miss FSU game

Posted Sep 5, 2009

Starting safety Vaughn Telemaque will be one of the players to miss Monday's opener against Florida State. Read on for the others.

The University of Miami released its official injury report this afternoon for Monday's game against Florida State.

While everyone knew starting defensive end Adewale Ojomo was out, the news of the report is that starting safety Vaughn Telemaque will miss the game as well with an "upper extemity" injury.

Telemaque played sparingly as a true freshman last season and emerged as one of the starters at safety alongside senior Randy Phillips. Filling his spot in the starting lineup will be JoJo Nicolas.

With Ojomo out and Eric Moncur being listed as doubtful, the Canes are expected to use a four-man rotation at defensive end -- Steven Wesley, Olivier Vernon, Marcus Robinson, and Andrew Smith.

Cornerback Ryan Hill will also miss Monday's game, making the secondary even thinner. Look for a true freshman like Brandon McGee to see some playing time in this game.

Three freshmen -- offensive lineman Cory White, defensive end Gavin Hardin, and linebacker Shayon Green -- have also been ruled out for the game.
