Injury Report for Va Tech Game

Injury Report for Va Tech Game

The Hurricanes are set to take on 11th-ranked Virginia Tech on Saturday so lets take a look at the latest injury report.

The Hurricanes played without sophomore wide receiver Aldarius Johnson last week against Georgia Tech and Johnson is listed as questionable for this week's game, according to the official injury report released by the University on Thursday. If he's unable to go, look for the trio of Laron Byrd, Leonard Hankerson, and Travis Benjamin to get more looks. The fourth receiver would then likely be sophomore Thearon Collier.

Backup running back Lee Chambers, who's been running third on the depth chart so far this season, was on crutches at the end of the Georgia Tech game last week and he's listed as doubtful for Saturday's game. If he's unable to go, look for Javarris James and Graig Cooper to carry more of the workload. Chambers has just a few carries on the season.

Freshman defensive end and freshman offensive tackle Cory White are both listed as doubtful as well.

The Hurricanes will be playing without three defensive linemen this week. Sophomore Adewale Ojomo has been ruled out for the third straight game. Reserve end Andrew Smith and tackle Marcus Forston, both sophomores, have also been ruled out for this game. The rotation at defensive end will likely be Marcus Robinson, Eric Moncur, Steven Wesley, and Olivier Vernon. Look for senior Joe Joseph to start next to junior Allen Bailey at tackle with reserves Josh Holmes and Micanor Regis getting expanded roles with the loss of Forston.

Reserve tight end Richard Gordon is also out and so look for Tervaris Johnson and Jimmy Graham to play bigger roles as blocking tight ends.

Freshman defensive end Gavin Hardin and freshman linebacker Shayon Green had already been ruled out for the entire season.
