| Biography: |
Named Second Team Associated Press All-State as a junior. Received offer from Iowa and Minnesota as a junior.
Senior season notes: Cretin-Derham (10-2) will play Eden Prairie in a state semi-final game on Nov. 18 in the Metro Dome. According to his father, Kevin, Matt has been playing "both ways -- offensive line, of course, and nose tackle as needed. If they need to stop a drive, he's in there. He's been playing both sides tackle and both sides guard. Pancakes, he averages about 10 a game. He's a man amongst boys right now."
Carufel reports a 3.8 GPA/23 ACT--no retest.
Matt Carufel: "I'd say my aggressiveness is my best strength. Especially in this past year when I gained a lot of strength, and realized that when I become the aggressor, I have the ability to dominate. I really began to make my downfield blocks, and just finish blocks all together. I just like dominating people. But I still want to work on my flexibility and long-distance speed. I want my feet to be quicker and get more downfield blocking."
