Biography:
The Cardinals acquired Edgerrin James from the Indianapolis Colts on March 12, 2006. They signed him to a four-year deal with the hopes James would bring a more balanced pass-rush ratio.

In his first two seasons in red, James gave the Cardinals two seasons of 1,100-plus yards, but the Cardinals still finished near the bottom of the rushing rankings. Arizona will likely incorporate a two-back system come the 2008 season.

2007

James accounted for all but 218 of Arizona's rushing yards in 2007. He earned his seventh 1,100 yard-plus season (1,222). James posted seven touchdowns and started in all 16 games. He also registered 204 receiving yards.

2006

The Cardinals started James in all 16 games. With 1,159 yards, James became the first Cardinal running back to rush for 1,000 yards since 1998 when Adrian Murrell broke the 14-year-old record set by Ottis Anderson in 1984. James also set a record with the most carries, 337. He tallied 217 receiving yards as well.

2005

James appeared and started in 15 games his last year with the Colts. He tied a career-high 13 rushing touchdowns and added 1,506 yards plus 337 receiving yards. The Colts let him go in free agency, but in his Indy term he was the Colts' all-time leading rusher. James left the Colts with four Pro Bowl selections.

2004

James started in all 16 games for the Colts. He registered 1,548 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. James also received for 483 yards.

2003

James started in 13 games for the Colts. He missed three due to a back injury. James still posted 1,259 rushing yards with 11 touchdowns and 292 receiving yards.

2002

James suffered a multitude of injuries in 2002 with the Colts. He came back from reconstructive knee surgery and played through two ankle injuries, an injury to his rib cartilage plus a hamstring injury. In 14 starts he rushed for 989 yards.

2001

James started the first six games of the season with the Colts, but was placed on injured reserve because of a season ending knee injury. His numbers were the lowest of his career with 662 rushing yards.

2000

James played his career best across the board in his sophomore season with the Colts. He started in all 16 games and came up with big numbers. He rushed for 1,709 yards with 13 touchdowns and 594 receiving yards for five touchdowns. His rushing yards led the NFL for the second consecutive year.

1999

James started in all 16 games in his rookie campaign with the Colts who drafted him as the fourth overall selection of the 1999 NFL Draft. His first year out he led the NFL in rushing yards, 1,553. James turned 13 of those runs into touchdowns.
