Cooper hit .282 with 115 hits in 408 at-bats with the San Antonio Missions. He collected 24 doubles, three triples, seven homers, 46 runs scored, and 55 RBIs across 121 games. He also drew 42 walks compared to 87 strikeouts for a .354 on-base percentage and stole five bases in eight attempts.
2007
Cooper hit a team-high .317 with 145 hits in 458 at bats for the Lake Elsinore Storm. In 124 games he had 32 doubles, four triples, 10 homers, 78 RBIs and 83 runs scored. he drew 56 walks compared to 87 strikeouts and stole four bags in eight attempts.
Cooper hit .255 with two doubles, a triple, six runs scored and seven RBIs for the Storm in 12 playoff games.
2006
Craig Cooper hit .320 with 74 hits in 231 at bats for the Eugene Emeralds. In 60 games he collected 18 doubles, a triple, six homers, 45 runs scored and 46 RBI's. He also drew 32 walks, whiffed 44 times and was 5-of-6 in stolen base attempts. He placed fifth in the Northwest League in RBI's, fourth in doubles, fifth in on base percentage, and third in batting.
Cooper went 7-for-21 in six games with the Fort Wayne Wizards, collecting fivr RBI's and six runs scored, ending the year with a hit in each of his games in the Midwest League.

Craig Cooper was selected by the San Diego Padres in the seventh round of the 2006 MLB Draft, 213th overall.
Cooper hit for a personal best .425 batting average giving him his third straight Big East batting title in 2006.
Along with his average, which was the sixth best in the nation, Cooper had a .522 OBP and a .654 SLP. At one point during the season he tied a Notre Dame record with a 21-game hit streak while the team won 23 straight.
Cooper was the toughest player to strikeout in the nation in 2006, averaging a strikeout only once every 16.3 at-bats (14 in 228 at-bats) and his 1.39 runs per game average was also best in the nation (79 in 57 games). |
