State To Report Leak's Contact With Amerson

According to NC State official Chris Kingston, the Wolfpack plans to report Eric Leak's contact with David Amerson to the Secretary of State because it violates the disassociation letter that was sent to Leak last November.

According to NC State official Chris Kingston, the Wolfpack plans to report Eric Leak's contact with David Amerson to the Secretary of State because it violates the disassociation letter that was sent to Leak last November.

"David Amerson talked to Eric Leak in June of 2012," Kingston said in an email sent to Pack Pride. "It is NOT a NCAA violation for David Amerson to talk to Eric Leak.

"Per his disassociation letter, Eric Leak was notified by NC State that he is not to have contact with our current and future student-athletes in all sports for any purpose during the period of disassociation.

"This ban extends to all forms of in-person contact and all known or future methods of communication. It appears that Eric Leak is in violation of this letter."

The News & Observer confirmed that Leak had contacted Amerson but that it had nothing to do with sports agents.

According to Kingston, any contact is a violation of Leak's disassociation letter.

"When we, NC State University, know about alleged or actual impermissible athlete agent activities, we refer such information to the North Carolina Secretary of State Athlete Agent Registration Office," said Kingston. "This office is responsible for the administration of the North Carolina Uniform Athlete Agents Act (NCUAAA).

"Based on the contact made in June of 2012 and in light of the recent article, we are notifying the North Carolina Secretary of State's Athlete Agent Registration Office of this possible violation of the NCUAAA."

Leak, who played at NC State from 1997-2000, received his disassociation letter for providing impermissible benefits to former NC State basketball player Tracy Smith and current Wolfpack player C.J. Leslie.
