Draft Preview - Cleveland Browns

What direction will the Browns go this week in the NFL Draft? Here's a draft preview.

Cleveland Browns
2013 draft picks:
1st round (6), 3(68), 4(104), 5(139, 164), 6(175), 7 (227)

It's transformation time for the Browns. They have a new head coach, GM and new defense. They used the free agency period as a time to look for fits for their new 3-4. They added a very good pass rusher in outside linebacker/defensive end Paul Kruger. They inked defensive tackle Desmond Bryant and outside linebacker Quintin Groves. It's far from a finished product but the additions are nice plus in year one for this regime.

Offensively they have added journeyman quarterback Jason Campbell, running back Dion Lewis and wide receiver David Nelson.

No longer with the Browns are quarterback Colt McCoy, wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi, tight end Ben Watson, defensive end Frostee Rucker, outside linebacler Emmanuel Acho, safety Usama Young and kicker Phil Dawson.

Cleveland has seven picks in this draft but no third round selection.

Draft Needs
1) Quarterback
Many will say in Cleveland that the Browns need a quarterback. And maybe they do. But can you tell with Brandon Weeden after having only one season under his belt? Many believe the Browns could go this route with their first pick. I have my doubts. Perhaps in round three or four.

2) Cornerback
Something that could very well happen to Cleveland in round one with the sixth pick is to draft cornerback Dee Milliner. That could give the Browns an excellent young pairing, as Joe Haden is one of the better young players in the league at this position. Cleveland could also wait and grab one later on in the draft. They could also trade out of this spot and look for a cornerback with their new position in the first round.

3) Outside Linebacker
It wouldn't be a shock to see Cleveland draft one of the elite, athletic pass rushers like Dion Jordan, Barkevious Mingo and even Jarvis Jones. They would all fit their new defense. Jordan and Mingo are outstanding athletes with speed, length and versatility while Jones is arguably the top pass rusher in this draft regardless of position.

4) Guard
How tempted are the Browns to pick offensive guard Chance Warmack with their first pick? Maybe they trade out of the spot to a team like San Diego or Miami (they are looking to trade out for OT) and grab Warmack or Jonathan Cooper at their new spot? Regardless, they need an upgrade here and will address this position in the draft.
