After taking in-season visits to Western Kentucky and North Carolina State, Dillard then committed to the Hurricanes at the end of his senior season.
At 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, Dillard spent the 2012 season as a redshirt. He wasn't able to break into the depth chart in the spring and the arrival of Gus Edwards seemed to push Dillard even further down it.
Now, he's no longer a member of the team. The school has removed him from the official roster. It's unclear where Dillard will end up as of now.
The Hurricanes now have just four scholarship running backs on the roster -- Duke Johnson, Eduardo Clements, Dallas Crawford, and Edwards. Walkon DeAndre Johnson, a transfer from Iowa, could also find a role as the team's fifth back.
Stay tuned for more details on the situation.
